• Welcome!

Welcome to 60DegreeV6.com, the best source for all your GM 60°V6 needs.

If you have a question, please visit the forums and ask there. If you are not the type of person to post on forums, there are also years of previous discussions to browse and search through.

If you would like to add content to the site, click on the "Create New Article" button on the right side of the screen. We are always looking for people to add content to the site in order to further expand the site to continue to benefit the community. If you aren't sure on how to create an article, check out our tutorial.

  • Help rebuild the site articles!

Ok, I had a really decent discussion going, then my wife came in and wanted to show me something. When she was done, she closed down the browser, and my post was lost. So I'm going to go with a condensed version...

We need everyone's help in rebuild the site articles. Robertisaar has take the lead and started a thread to try to keep everything organized and people working together on articles. See his thread HERE. There can be multiple ways to help out.

One is to write a completely new article on something you feel confident about, or have good access to. One thing I can think of off the top of my head that would be a FANTASTIC article would be a walk through of a 3x00 LIM gasket replacement. If you are getting ready to go this, or have an engine on a stand that you could basically simulate doing the repair on, take a lot of pictures and document the process as if you were a teacher. List out the tools you will use, the parts you will need (list out the different gasket kit PNs), and then do a step-by-step guide on how to do it.

Another is to just refine an existing article. Almost all of the old articles are currently on another site I set up for just this purpose, and is located HERE. Follow the links on the side to an article, copy it over to the new system, and refine it. When I say refine it, I mean proof read it and make any grammatical or spelling corrections, update it for the most recent information (many of those articles are 4-5 yrs old, and contain plenty of outdated information), or add pictures, graphs, etc to just improve the overall article. Make it something that you think would help others, the same way you would want the article to help you.

So now that everyone has an idea of what we are looking for, let me tell you how to do it. First, when you come up with a new article you want to do, or an existing article you want to improve, post it in Robert's thread listed above. This way, we won't have multiple people working on the same thing. Next, on the main page (http://60degreev6.com), click on the "Create new Article" button on the upper right side of the screen. From there, use the editor to write the article. There are a lot of formatting options, but don't get overwhelmed with them. Do the best that you can. Don't worry about any of the options on the right hand side. If you can do the article in one sitting, great! If not, you should be able to click on the SAVE button, and copy the URL from your browser to be able to edit the article at a later time. Once you have the article how you want it, send me (bszopi) a private message telling me the name of the article and that it is ready for review. I will then go through it, making any fixes, as well as setting up the publishing options, and then publish the article for the rest of the site.

With that said, I really hope we can get some good stuff from the community. You guys have pulled through before when we needed you, so I hope to see it again. If I can work something out, maybe each person who writes an article will get a free 60degreev6.com sticker. I need to get them made first, of course, but at least it might be an incentive for everyone.

As always, I want to say thanks to all who make this site what it is. If it wasn't for this great community, this site would never be where it is at right now. We are at a spot right now where the site can get better and grow, or shrivel up and die. Everyone here has put too much into it for the latter to happen, so let's see what we can do!

you can delete this post if you want but i figured since it went along with the articles thing id post it here.

to add to this one i would like to add pictures of the various torque sequences like the head bolts, the intake mani bolts and such. is that something that would be beneficial.

i know in the past there have been people asking about the sequences.

Yes, stuff like that is exactly what I am talking about. I just need to figure out where exactly to put it. Should it be its own thing, or in a related article, or in a gallery (which I am trying to figure out). Remember, not all articles have to be super in depth. There is an article that is just a couple sentences long that discusses pushrod locations, yet it is lacking a photo. There are simple questions on the forum which get asked almost weekly. These are things I think we need to make articles on.

Week late, but I never saw anything awaiting my approval. Oh, and the link you posted is the wrong forum (that is the locked down test forum we used prior to upgrading the main site).
