Hello. I'm posting these pics for others to use as a reference when installing S&S headers. This was done to a 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix.
Test fitting the rear S&S header I noticed that it was resting on the firewall without the dog bones completely installed. So I needed quite a bit of clearance.
I used an airhammer to pound in the firewall. With the dog bones in place I can now rock my engine back and forth and still have .25" clearance at the tighest section on the passenger side of the rear header. The rest of the clearance is .5" or more.
I did go through a few rounds of modifing the firewall. I did forget to take a final picture of the modified firewall with the header out. But the last 2 photos show the header in place with the completed firewall. I will get that last picture in a week or two.
*edit* My 95 Grand prix had two heat shields that I removed with a 10mm socket. One heatshield was right over and above where I modified with the air hammer. And the other was down below where the downpipe is located at. In the BEFORE picture you can see the bottom heatshield. And the after pic you can see that the heatshield was removed. I was told by another person that the heatshield contacts the header.

After first round
First Test fit. Upper and right side had plenty of clearance. At least .5" to 1". But the left side had aboout 1/8" clearance.
After 2nd round of hammering and fitting
Here is a picture of my modified front engine bracket to clear the front header. I used a die grinder to complete this job. Like the first job, i took off more material than was needed.
